I have started work on a new cod4 map as some may know allready called mp_ava_epic. The idea for the map came to me in this months game informer magazine in an article for a game called epic mickey.
Now I have no idea what the mickey game is about but the mansion on the cover looked sweet. It also was floating on a chunk of earth and I don't know where the rest of it went.
So what I intend to do is use the idea of the chunks of earth floating and incorerate it into a cod4 map. It will have normal terrain that we are used to battleing on but instead of having you walled in... you drop to your death if you leave the map, pretty simple ehh?
Here are some screens of the progress so far and of course all comments and suggestions are welcome. When it is time I hope I can gather all our original alpha and beta testers for this chuck of mappage!

Glad you guys like it. I spent a couple of hours making the kitchen in the back of the mansion as well as adding fx...... lightning bugs, moths and stuff on the outside I'm not taking screenshots of but here are some screens of the kitchen.
Enjoy, can't wait to battle in this one!

I have some more screenshots for you guys. A little more detail in the room with the shadows and some screens of the tunnel. I'm not one for making tunnels, so they do take me a while.
I can however appreciate good tunnels that not only look good but are a key part of the maps gameplay/flow. mp_burg, mp_yard and mp_apesgorod are really good examples of that. And I don't mind going down in them and chasing the rats out for my team.
I have decided now that the mansion does not have a bunker beneath it but it has an experimental laboratory that was working with teleportation.
Also things that have been done are refinments to the cemetary and mausoleum, tunnels, lab and the exit from the bottom of the mausoleum.
All building that exist so far have been portaled. And now here are a few screens.
This is the inside of the mausoleum and the exit comming out of it to the ledge that goes beneath the gardner house to the tunnels.
These shots are of the laboratory...the control room and teleporter itself. This is a pretty wild room as when you enter it one of the first things you notice is the spinning shadows on the wall the come from the turbo fan under the platform.
These two are the teleporters destination point. It puts you on a floating mass of land that has a radio tower and a lil bit of cover on it nothing else. It offers you a sniper position on the back side of mansion with roof in sights. The only way off of this piece is to take the teleporter back to the lab or jump off the edge and meet your fate.
